MediaTek announces two new chips: Helio G25 & G35

MediaTek, the world’s 4th largest global fabless semiconductor company has released two new chips. The latest members of G series are the MediaTek Helio G25 and G35. The chips are target at providing an enhanced gaming and photography experience. The chips will power budget gaming phones.

“Mobile gaming is now the preferred mode of entertainment across market segments, and MediaTek expanded its G-series to meet the huge demand for competitively priced, mainstream gaming smartphones,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager, Wireless Communications Business Unit, MediaTek in a release. “The MediaTek Helio G25 and G35 chips offer smartphone users premium features included in our other G-series family, including enhanced power efficiency, optimum performance, seamless gameplay, and enhanced photography,” he added.

Both chips come with MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology that intelligently determines the quality of a connection. The chips feature integrated 4G LTE WorldMode modems, including essential dual 4G SIM support, allowing VoLTE/ViLTE on both connections. The 12nm chips are powered by eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores. The G35 is clocked at 2.3GHz while the G25 is clocked 2.0GHz. The speed offered goes up to 650MHz for G25 and up to 680 MHz for G25.

For better gaming, the chips feature an enhanced MediaTek HyperEngine, for intelligent resource management that ensures sustained and smooth performance. To capture images, the G25 supports a single camera mode of up to 21MP at 30fps, while the G35 supports up to 25MP cameras and AI-enhanced camera features including simulated bokeh effects.

Interestingly, both the chips have already been made use of in smartphones. Xiaomi’s latest budget warriors, the new Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C will be running on the new MediaTek processors. The Redmi 9A comes with the Helio G25, whereas the Redmi 9C comes with the G35. The phones were unveiled in Malaysia. Redmi 9A comes at a price of RM359 (roughly Rs. 6,400) for the 2GB+32GB variant. Redmi 9C comes at a price of RM429 (roughly Rs. 7500) for the 2GB+32GB variant. The upcoming Realme C11 also runs on the Helio G35. The phone comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ waterdrop-style notched display with two cameras at the back. The phone would be available in Malaysia for RM429 (roughly Rs 7,560). https://bit.ly/31NmQTf
