Mi TV Stick Price and Specs Leaked

Xiaomi seems ready to launch another streaming device in the market. The Mi TV Stick has been found listed at a Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) website. This could mean that the company is not far from launching it. Mi already sells Mi TV box in India at Rs. 3,499. Mi TV Box lets the user convert a normal TV into a Smart TV. Mi TV Stick, as the name implies, carries most of the same functionality in a more compact form factor of a streaming stick.

It first appeared in a product briefing in Germany. The leak even appeared on reddit with a few images. Now we have a very detailed leak of the same.

It will support native Chromecast functionality and will run on Android TV 9.0. Additionally, it will come bundled with a remote that features dedicated Google Assistant, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix buttons. It will support Dolby DTS-HD audio, too.

There are two versions of the Mi Stick. THere’s one with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage that supports a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 fps. The other one has 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of eMMC storage, and an Amlogic S905 Y2 quad-core processor. Not only that, but it also supports 4K HDR, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and DTS-HD audio. There is also a USB 3.0 Type-C port for powering the unit. The specifications match that of Mi TV box.

The 1GB version was listed for $49 and the 2GB version was listed for $133. Mi TV stick will provide good competition to Amazon Fire TV Stick that costs Rs. 3,499 in India. Xiaomi’s intentions to bring the product to India are unknown. If Xiaomi brings Mi Stick to India, it could become a great budget alternative to Amazon Fire TV Stick. However, the price for the 4K variant seems a little extra. If priced strategically for the Indian market, with the growing consumption on OTT platforms and Smart TV sales going up, Mi TV Stick could do really well. https://bit.ly/2zSVlMg
