Redmi 9 Full Specifications and Design Leaked

Redmi’s new budget warrior, Redmi 9 may have been leaked ahead of its launch. A Filipino retailer has laid bare the full design and specifications of the upcoming smartphone. Redmi hasn’t made any announcements about the phone so far but it is expected to be a budget smartphone and a successor to Redmi 8. It is expected to launch on June 25 in China.

Thanks to the leak, we now have the specifications and design of the phone. Redmi 9 is seen to have a quad-camera setup on the back with three image sensors placed in one line at the back, and a fourth camera sensor sits on the side with the flash. The quad cameras are tipped to include a 13-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel secondary camera, a 5-megapixel tertiary sensor, and a 2-megapixel fourth camera. The fingerprint sensor is placed right below the three cameras.

The front side of the phone is expected to have a 6.5-inch full-HD LCD display with a waterdrop-style notch for the selfie camera. On the design aspect, the phone looks a lot like its predecessor Redmi 8.

The phone is powered by Helio G80 processor and a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. As far as the pricing is concerned, according to a report by GizmoChina, the Redmi 9 will launch with two RAM/storage variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. While the 3GB + 32GB model is expected to cost USD 139 (roughly Rs. 10,500), the 4GB + 64GB option is said to come with a price tag of USD 149 (roughly Rs. 11,300).

The phone is expected to retail in three colour options- Grey, Sunset Purple and Green. It will be launched in India a few weeks after the China launch, which is expected around June 25. But given these leaks, the company might want to launch it sooner. If the specifications from the leak turn out to be true and the phone is launched in India without any downgrades then we are looking at a significant upgrade from Redmi 8. A better processor to get more done and two additional cameras on the back.
